Wales-based crime novelist Belinda Bauer will be guest of honour at of the Cards for Good Causes charity Christmas card shop in Cardiff on Tuesday 23rd October, when she officially opens the pop-up shop for the festive season. Belinda’s most recent novel Snap was on the long list for the 2018 Man Booker Prize, drawing attention as it was the first time that crime fiction had been included within the prestigious competition

A regular fixture in Cardiff city centre in the run up to Christmas, the Cards for Good Causes shop is located at St John the Baptist’s Church in St John Street. The multi-charity organisation also operates two other shops in Rhiwbina and in Roath, all selling Christmas cards on behalf of a wide range of local charities including Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre, Cancer Research Wales and City Hospice, as well as national charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC and the RNLI.

Nationally Cards for Good Causes has raised over £40 million for charities in the past ten years. It runs a network of more than 300 pop-up Christmas card shops across the UK. These are supported by volunteers to ensure that as much money as possible goes to the charities. As well as a selection of hundreds of Christmas card designs, shoppers can choose from a growing range of festive products and gifts including traditional advent calendars and candles, wrapping paper, gift tags, napkins and stocking fillers.  The Welsh shops also carry a range of Welsh and bilingual cards.
